Hi! Welcome to the Department of Culture and Tourism Code of Conduct training course.
The Code of Conduct for Government Employees in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi was drawn up to improve professional conduct and ethics, which, in turn, boosts the quality of work and enhances employees’ performance and service. It aims to shed light on the principles of government work: Loyalty, excellence and leadership, efficiency, integrity and individual & public responsibility.

We expect all our staff to follow these principles and abide by the following rules:

• Adhering to Legislation of the UAE law and regulations on all matters including financial dealings, procurement, use of resources and general appearance
• Performance Efficiency in all duties and tasks including avoiding bias in service, commitment to duties, abiding by working hours, and taking responsibility of your actions
• Work Documentation to keep records of all work related activities
• Maintaining confidentiality by signing relevant agreements with third parties, following information security procedures and being extra cautious on social media
• Protecting public money and the UAE’s interests and assets, and notifying superiors of any cases that may have adverse effects on the public interest
• Appropriate Use of Granted Authority by not misusing this authority for personal gain or harm to others even after leaving the government entity
• Employee Conduct should be free from any form of discrimination or bad behaviours that could violate laws or societal values, traditions or customs
• Declining all bribes, gifts and favours that are in exchange for favours or unauthorised activities
• Reporting any Conflict of interest and notifying management and HR of any such dealings
• Refrain from conducting or taking part in questionable or political activities that may harm the UAE
• Good Conduct and Respect with superiors and colleagues to build trustful working relationships
• Maintaining a Safe Work Environment while also minimising environmental impact
• Professional Duties and External Activities whether volunteering or participating in promotional activities need to have management approval
• Using Illegal Substances is strictly prohibited and thus should not be possessed or distributed
• Uniform and Appearance should reflect the customs and traditions of the UAE and for non-Emiratis, men should wear formal suit and necktie, whereas women should wear modest clothing

On the other hand, employees must be treated with dignity and respect as well as provided with the opportunity to communicate with executive management on initiatives or violations.
