Stéphanie Targui
For two decades Stéphanie Targui has been working at the crossroads of museums, digital innovation and nature conservation. Within the French Natural History Museum, she pioneered the establishment of digital and audiovisual sectors, led the digital strategy and built the online network for its 13 establishments including museums, galleries, botanical gardens and zoos. Her work includes websites, citizen science projects, narratives from scientific voyages, innovative media experiments. Her aim was to build the institution's digital identity, developing online engagement within a community dedicated to biodiversity conservation.
In 2017, she initiated the first VR program which led to the creation of the first permanent VR facility within a museum in France: the Cabinet of Virtual Reality. Since 2021, she is fully dedicated to digital and audiovisual innovation. She encourages the development of new kinds of XR/immersive experiences to captivate and involve audiences. Targui drove the production of a major project on the History of Life : Mondes Disparus - Life Chronicles. This collaborative effort between the French National Museum of Natural History and Emissive – Excurio announces a new type of experiences designed to reconnect humanity with nature and engage in its preservation efforts.
