Philippe Vezie
With over 20 years of experience in academic libraries and cultural institutions, Philippe Vezie has a strong background in library management, research dissemination, and international collaboration. Currently, he is managing the Mediatheque of the Institut Français du Proche-Orient (Ifpo), overseeing six libraries across five countries (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, and Iraq), leading large-scale archival digitization projects, managing the integration of cataloging systems, and training library staff in international standards.
Previously, he served as the Head of the University Science and Technology Library at Aix-Marseille University, overseeing operations, research support, and Open Access initiatives. He managed open research archive, working to enhance the visibility and accessibility of the university’s scientific output while ensuring compliance with European research standards. His role also included supporting researchers in publication management and data preservation.
From 2015 to 2023, he was responsible for international acquisitions, theses, and dissertations at the Medical and Dentistry University Library in Marseille, contributing to the organization and cataloging of critical academic resources.
Academically, he holds a Master in Arabic Language and Civilization from Université de Provence (1990–1996), demonstrating a strong foundation in linguistic and cultural studies.
