Claire Cialone Gregoire

As a digital humanities research engineer since 2020, Claire is in charge of the documentary processing of the data produced and used as part of LiPoL. Part of her work concerns the description and archiving of a corpus of 542 manuscript storytellers' notebooks in Middle Arabic from the Romance (sīra) of Baybars in its Damascene recension. She also worked on the development of an HTR (Handwritten Text Recognition) model for the automatic extraction of text from sīra manuscripts. She previously worked as an assistant archivist in the Archives de la Recherche-Phonothèque sector of the media library of the Mediterranean House of Human Sciences (MMSH, Aix-en-Provence), where she had the opportunity to process several multi-media archive collections of the research in social and human sciences related to the Mediterranean and the Middle East. She joined the field of processing research data relating to the Arab and Muslim worlds after completing a double degree course in law (master's degree in History of Law, specialising in 'Memory and Heritage' at Aix-Marseille University in 2017) and Arabic (master's degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures, specialising in 'Arabic Studies' at Lumière-Lyon 2 University in 2016).
